Institute
Researching the reasoning that sits between analysis and action.
The Institute for Generative Strategy is an independent research initiative based in Ferrara, Italy. Its work combines strategy, decision support, heuristic knowledge, semantic technologies and human-AI collaboration.
Mission
The Institute studies methods for making strategic choice more explicit, comparable and open to critical examination. The central interest is the passage from a description of the strategic situation to a decision about how to act - before that decision is translated into programmes, responsibilities and tactics.
This focus does not imply that strategic choice can be automated. On the contrary, the research programme is built around a division of labour: formal and computational methods can widen comparison and improve traceability; AI can assist with evidence and interpretation; human strategists remain responsible for judgment, challenge and commitment.
Research approach
The Institute works across historical and contemporary strategic traditions rather than treating one school as sufficient. Its published research has explored semantic integration between analytical frameworks and decision heuristics, and more recently the compositional synthesis of multiple heuristics through agent-augmented reasoning.
