Making strategic choice explicit.

The Institute for Generative Strategy researches methods for the difficult step between understanding a strategic context and deciding how to act. Its principal research programme is the 6C Model.

The strategic-choice problem

Strategy has a difficult middle.

Analysis can describe a situation. Planning can organize execution. Between them lies a different question: which strategic logic fits this context, which alternatives should be rejected, and what coherent choice should guide the plan?

The 6C Model

A structured comparison of context and strategic logic.

The current model describes strategic situations through six conditions and compares them with a repertoire of 60 strategic motors. The goal is not to automate judgment, but to make alternative strategic logics more explicit, comparable and open to challenge.

Shared representation

Actors, counterpart, objectives and strategic motors are represented through the same six-condition language.

Structured comparison

The model evaluates fit and tension across a broad repertoire instead of beginning from a preselected solution.

Human judgment remains central

AI can organize evidence and interpret results. It does not replace the model’s comparison or the strategist’s final judgment.

India at the Chokepoint — Making Hormuz Less Decisive.

A 6C strategic-choice analysis of how India can preserve energy and economic continuity through 2030 while retaining strategic freedom of action under a compound Hormuz constraint spanning physical supply, shipping, insurance, prices and regional escalation.

Do not try to control Hormuz. Reduce the number of Indian choices that depend on its condition.

From Extraction to Synthesis

A compositional architecture for agent-augmented strategic reasoning, exploring how multiple strategic heuristics can be synthesized rather than merely selected.

Institute

A research programme, not an AI strategist.

The aim is to study how strategic choice can become more explicit, reproducible and discussable - while preserving the role of human judgment.
